travel along 75 ~1 to 2 miles. The WASH house is on the left.

If you get to McCoys, you passed it.

Parking is at a premium, carpool if possible.

Speed limit along hwy 75 is 50 mph so please be careful pulling in and out of the parking lot.

bring materials (paper for copier, extra printed out pdf sheets copied at varying sizes and possibly tracing paper if needed) to refine final 8

each team member presents refined 8 team name solutions.
team narrows down to the top two to be further refined by the member.
team selects final logo to be refined and used as group brand/name/logo for inflatable project.
make sketchbook of to 30 designs (from the 48 created); mount logos on black paper and stab bind book (due Tuesday).

Am looking forward to seeing all 30 of your texture studies on Tuesday as well as your self portrait projects. Be sure to bring materials to create 30 new textures--consider bringing a variety of different surface materials to work with as well as a variety of papers, from tissue to hard and slick, smooth and course. Bring a lot to work with, be prepared to experiment and explore.

choose one drawing from all that you've made to date
take a photo of the whole drawing (don't tilt camera; hold it straight over the middle of drawing = no distortions)
move camera around over same drawing
consider zooming and cropping
shoot 19 more shots thinking of each one as a unique composition
post all 20 shots on your blog; 1 image should be whole drawing
after first image sequence rest by personal preference

no camera angles/tilting just zooming and cropping.

So I took a towel and blindfolded myself because i KNEW i would peek as I wrote. The assignment I chose to do was #11. Close you eyes and write a word one hundred times. This one was the thought "Go away." I was listening to Flyleaf's songs, I'm so Sick, Fully Alive, and Cassie.

This one took around 9 minutes.

This is "What I am doing." I was listening to Arcade Fire's Sleeping in a Submarine, and No Cars Go. This one took 12 minutes.

The thought here was "I know this." The music was Tunnels, Rebellion, and Power Out, By The Arcade Fire. It took about 11 minutes.

"Yes it is," while i listened to Basia Bulat's songs, Before I knew, La-da-da, I was a daughter, and Snakes and Ladders. This took me 8 minutes.

I spent 9 minutes with the idea, "Today I will." The music behind this one was Psycobitches out of Hell by the Horrorpops.

Here is "I cannot." The songs I listened to were The Flowers, and Us, from Regina Spektor. This took me 8 minutes.

7 minutes. "Look Out." I was listening to Yellowcard's Way Away, and Believe.

But look what happens when I use pencil for my words:

Anyway, I enjoyed this assignment, it was halfway between experiment and game maybe. The darker spots are sometimes where the songs repeat phrases, and the largest words were either when the song got really slow or loud. The sharper words were made by the quicker beats, but the rounder words were when I was listening to fast lyrics. It was interesting, sitting there blindfolded. I kept expecting my roommate to come in and ask me what in the world I was doing. I bet I looked crazy.

I gotta' say though, I'm disappointed my roommate is never surprised by the weird art things I do. Had she walked in on my seeming insanity, she probably wouldn't have noticed. Oh well.

All in all, I spent about an Hour and Four Minutes on this project.

Look up the music if you want, it's pretty good depending what you feel like listening to.

Hmmm grading some interesting well crafted work

Good ideas that are also well crafted and presented with care are not only easy to grade but a pleasure. I struggle with grading work were a really good idea is masked by ackward or poorly executed craft or presentation. And I laugh when I know I've been had by an amazing presentation or wowed with craft so that I don't even notice or care that the primary idea isn't that strong. So bring me pleasure with your good ideas or make me smile with your presentation or amazing craft. Please make it easy for me to recognize your A work!

The draftsman and the wall enter a dialogue. The draftsman becomes bored but later through this meaningless activity finds peace or misery. The lines on the wall are the residue of this process. Each line is as important as each other line. All of the lines have become one thing. The viewer of the lines can only see lines on a wall. They are meaningless. That is art.

The artist conceives and plans the wall drawing. It is realized by draftsmen. (The artist can act as his own draftsman.) The plan, written, spoken or a drawing, is interpreted by the draftsman. There are decisions which the draftsman makes, within the plan, as part of the plan. Each individual, being unique, given the same instructions would carry them out differently. He would understand them differently. The artist must allow various interpretations of his plan. The draftsman perceives the artist’s plan, then reorders it to his own experience and understanding. The draftsman’s contributions are unforeseen by the artist, even if he, the artist, is the draftsman. Even if the same draftsman followed the same plan twice, there would be two different works of art. No one can do the same thing twice. The artist and the draftsman become collaborators in making the art. Each person draws a line differently and each person understands words differently. Neither lines nor words are ideas. They are the means by which ideas are conveyed. The wall drawing is the artist’s art, as long as the plan is not violated. If it is, then the draftsman becomes the artist and the drawing would be his work of art, but that art is a parody of the original concept. The draftsman may make errors in following the plan without compromising the plan. All wall drawings contain errors. They are part of the work. The plan exists as an idea but needs to be put into its optimum form. Ideas of wall drawings alone are contradictions of the idea of wall drawings. The explicit plans should accompany the finished wall drawing. They are of importance.
